Booking terms for Thalassa 1 and Thalassa 2
Updated 23 October 2026
These are the terms of PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia for bookings of Thalassa 1 and Thalassa 2: a 50 percent deposit, the balance 30 days before sailing, refunds of 50 and 25 percent on the cancellation scale, and a substitute-boat guarantee. The owner's own terms are not ours.
The party you sign with
Your contract is with PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia (NIB 1805260128363), the booking partner for Thalassa 1 and Thalassa 2. Thalassa 1 and Thalassa 2 are owned and run by their owner, which keeps its own website. We sell the trips, answer your questions and are responsible for your booking.
Owner terms do not apply to a booking made here. These terms and your written quote do.
Rates shown are the 2026 rates, valid from 1 January 2026. The price list in force applies until the 2027 list is issued. If it changes before the balance is due, we tell you first and you can cancel without charge.
Paying in two parts
A 50 percent deposit confirms the booking and holds the date. The remainder is paid 30 days before the sailing date. A booking made within 30 days of sailing is paid in full when it is confirmed.
Payment methods are those listed on your quote. A card payment link, Wise, Revolut, QRIS, Alipay and bank transfer are offered, and PayPal carries a surcharge of 7.2 percent. Listed prices include 11 percent Indonesian VAT.
One schedule covers both boats, because the deposit and the balance follow the same rule on Thalassa 1 and Thalassa 2.
| Deposit | 50 percent of the total |
| Balance | 30 days before |
| Bookings inside 30 days pay in full | |
| Children | Under 3 free, accompanied by a parent |
| Prices include 11 percent VAT · Passport details 7 days before sailing |
Deposit 50% to confirm, balance 30 days before departure. You can also settle the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine. Fees: card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC card machine 3%. Your issuing bank may add its own charges.
Refunds, and shifting your dates
Refunds depend on how far ahead of sailing you cancel. At 60 days or more you receive 50 percent of what you paid. From 30 to 59 days you receive 25 percent. Inside 30 days there is no refund.
A change of date 30 days or more before sailing is free, subject to availability. From 14 to 29 days before, the fee is IDR 500,000. Inside 14 days a date change is treated as a cancellation under the same scale.
Travel insurance with cancellation and medical evacuation cover is strongly recommended. Children under 3 travel free, and from 3 they pay the full rate.
| Notice | Refund |
|---|---|
| 60 days or more | 50 % |
| 30 to 59 days | 25 % |
| 29 days or less | 0 % |
| Notice | Fee |
|---|---|
| 30 days or more | Free |
| 14 to 29 days | IDR 500,000 |
| 13 days or less | Treated as a cancellation |
If we cancel, you are refunded 100 percent · Refunds are paid within 14 days.
When the hull cannot leave harbor
When a breakdown or an order from the harbor master or the park keeps the boat in port, we provide a phinisi of the same class or higher on the same dates at no extra cost. You may instead take a full refund, paid within 14 days.
Weather is a different case. The captain decides the route on the day, and a change of stops for wind, tide or sea state is not a cancellation. The captain chooses each night's anchorage on the day, by the weather.
A change of boat after the quote, for instance from Thalassa 1 to Thalassa 2, is a new quote and is priced on its own.
What stays outside the rate: guide, documentation, park
The charter rate is one rounded all-in figure that already includes fuel, so your quote shows a single rate for your guest band. Komodo National Park tickets and ranger fees are never part of the fare.
On a private charter the guide and photo and video documentation are not included; both are available on request and quoted separately. Flights, hotels, insurance, a drone permit and a crew gratuity are also outside the fare.
High season adds 10 percent to the private charter rate for 23 to 27 December 2026 and for 30 December 2026 to 2 January 2027; your written quote shows it.
Which law applies
Indonesian law governs these terms and your booking, and disputes go to the Indonesian courts. Conduct that endangers the boat, the crew or the park ends the trip without a refund.
Names on your booking must match your passports. The harbor and the park register every passenger by name, and a mismatch can stop you at the jetty.
Questions about any clause go to us on WhatsApp, and the answer comes in writing.
