Komodo island luxury cruise: what the word covers on an ironwood phinisi
Updated 23 October 2026
A Komodo island luxury cruise on Thalassa comes down to facts: an ironwood-and-teak hull, 5 or 9 air-conditioned cabins, two balcony Masters on Thalassa 1 and a table laid on deck. A 3D2N whole boat is IDR 50,500,000 (≈ USD 3,098) on Thalassa 1 or IDR 112,500,000 (≈ USD 6,902) on Thalassa 2, fuel included.
A list instead of an adjective
People search for a Komodo island luxury cruise and then find a page of adjectives. Here is what is on board, and we stop where the list stops.
- The hull: ironwood and teak. Thalassa 1 is 27 m long and 5.8 m wide; Thalassa 2 is 35 m long and 7.2 m wide.
- The cabins: all 5 cabins on Thalassa 1 are air-conditioned with a private bathroom and hot water. Two of them, the Master Sea View cabins, have a private balcony. Thalassa 2 has 9 air-conditioned cabins; its bathroom type is confirmed in writing before you pay.
- The decks: a sundeck with bean bags and a speaker on Thalassa 1, a balcony deck with a 32-inch LED TV, and an air-conditioned dining room with a second TV.
- The water: a canoe, 2 SUP boards, fun floats and free snorkeling gear.
That is the whole claim. Anything beyond it is not on board.
What the rate buys, and what it does not
The whole-boat rate pays for the boat and its crew, led by a cruise leader and a captain. It also covers the free pickup and drop-off from the airport, hotel or harbor, meals per the itinerary, coffee, tea and mineral water, an afternoon snack, snorkeling gear, the canoe and the harbor clearance fee.
Outside the rate: flights, hotels, travel insurance, crew tips, a drone permit, and park tickets and ranger fees. A guide and photo and video documentation are quoted separately on request. Fuel is already in the rate, so the quote shows one all-in figure for your guest band. We add nothing else to a quote without telling you first, so the figure you accept is the figure on the invoice.
So the total comes to two lines: the all-in rate for the band, and the outside costs you pay on shore.

Small luxury and large luxury
Thalassa 1 and Thalassa 2 are two sizes of the same sea. Neither outranks the other.
Thalassa 1 is a small boat: 5 cabins, up to 11 guests. With few guests the decks stay uncrowded, and the two balcony cabins give two couples a balcony of their own onto the morning. It also runs open trips, so you can take a seat instead of the whole boat.
Thalassa 2 is the large version: 9 cabins, up to 27 guests, sold only as a whole boat. It has a karaoke room, a sundeck, a dining room and a lounge, and it suits a company, a reunion or a group of friends who want one hull to themselves. Groups under 12 pay the 12 to 16 band, IDR 112,500,000 (≈ USD 6,902) for 3D2N.
Start with the headcount. The comparison page sets the two boats side by side, and the Cabins page shows each berth.
The day by its light
Morning breeze. Red sails up, the boat leaves Labuan Bajo for Kelor and Manjarite. On day 2 the Padar ridge comes first, before the heat, then breakfast on deck.
Midday. Komodo with a ranger, Pink Beach for the swim, then Taka Makassar or Manta Point. Air conditioning in the cabin waits for the hottest hour.
Evening on deck. Kalong at dusk, the sails down and the table laid on deck once the anchor is set. Day 3 closes at Kanawa. The stop order is the captain's, from wind and tide.
The price per guest, at four sizes
Per person, all-in with fuel included, 3D2N, 2026 rates: 2 guests on Thalassa 1 pay IDR 25,250,000 (≈ USD 1,549) each, 8 guests pay IDR 8,190,000 (≈ USD 502) each and 11 guests pay IDR 5,950,000 (≈ USD 365) each. On Thalassa 2, 20 guests pay IDR 6,220,000 (≈ USD 382) each and 27 guests pay IDR 4,610,000 (≈ USD 283) each.
Each figure is the whole boat divided by the head count, not a seat price. The curve falls as the party grows, and it falls furthest on the large boat. An open-trip seat on Thalassa 1 starts at IDR 6,650,000 (≈ USD 408) per person for 3D2N.
Where the word luxury stops
Thalassa has no spa, no butler and no jacuzzi, and none is on either boat. Local Wi-Fi on board is a hotspot from the crew's mobile signal. It cuts in and out, there is no satellite internet, and you should not plan on video calls.
No Thalassa 2 cabin has a private balcony (the boat has a shared balcony deck on the upper deck), and its bathroom type and hot water are confirmed in writing, so we claim neither here. The private balcony is a Thalassa 1 feature, and only two cabins have it. The days are shaped by wind and light, and the captain, not the schedule, settles the stops, the anchorages and the order of the reefs.
If the list above is the list you want, the next step is the number. Send us the boat, the dates and the head count, and the quote comes back in writing.

Each price already includes fuel, so the quote shows one all-in rate for your guest band. Rates shown are the 2026 rates.
Is a Komodo luxury cruise worth it?
It is worth it when you want the whole boat, the date and the pace for yourselves. Eleven guests on Thalassa 1 pay IDR 5,950,000 (≈ USD 365) each for 3D2N, all-in, and 27 guests on Thalassa 2 pay IDR 4,610,000 (≈ USD 283) each. Amenities: air-conditioned cabins, a private bathroom with hot water in all 5 Thalassa 1 cabins, two balcony cabins on Thalassa 1, a sundeck, a dining room with TV, a canoe, 2 SUP boards and free snorkeling gear. Thalassa 2 adds a karaoke room. There is no spa or butler.
Is the price per person or per boat?
Per boat. A private charter is priced as a whole boat for a band of guests, such as 1 to 5 or 6 to 11 on Thalassa 1. The per-person figure on this page is the whole-boat rate divided by the head count, so you can compare the two boats.
Is fuel included in the charter price?
Yes. The charter price already includes fuel, so your quote shows one all-in rate for your guest band. Park tickets, ranger fees, guide and documentation are separate.
