Komodo as a place to hold a retreat

Thalassa 2 has no meeting room and no projector, and no screen beyond a 32-inch LED TV on the upper deck. That's the limit, and it shapes the agenda: this is a retreat where the boat is the room and the park is the program.

What the boat gives a company is time away from signal, a single place for 27 people to eat, and a day that keeps changing scenery. Teams come aboard as colleagues and go ashore having shared a ridge at dawn and a table at night. The park gives the agenda its breaks: Padar, Komodo, Pink Beach and the reefs.

Thalassa 2 is 35 m long and 7.2 m wide, made of ironwood and teak, with a sundeck, a dining room, a lounge and a karaoke room. It is sold as a whole boat to one party, so your session is never overheard.

27 colleagues, 9 cabins: who sleeps where

Thalassa 2 has a Master cabin on the upper deck for 3 guests, four private twin cabins of 2 guests each, a shared twin cabin for 4, and two bunk cabins for up to 6 guests each. The exact allocation for your party is confirmed in writing with the quote, using only these capacities.

In practice, senior staff and guests of honor take the Master and the twins, project teams share the bunk cabins, and a team lead or two take the shared twin. Every cabin is air-conditioned. Bathroom type on Thalassa 2 is confirmed in writing before you pay.

The bed-by-bed table is on the Thalassa 2 berths and rates page.

Presentations and workshops on deck

You can hold a session on Thalassa 2. The dining room is the natural place for a morning workshop out of the sun, and the lounge and the upper-deck TV give two other places to gather. Bring your own laptop and printed material.

There is no projector, meeting room or fixed screen, and local Wi-Fi on board is a hotspot from the crew's mobile signal. It cuts in and out, there is no satellite internet, and you should not plan on video calls. Plan sessions that work offline.

The karaoke room is the one space on board made for a group, and it is where most teams end the second night.

Three days: arrive, work, wrap up

Day 1: arrive and settle. Pickup, boarding, the safety briefing and lunch, then Kelor for the first walk. Kalong at dusk, dinner, and an optional first session while the sky is still light.

Day 2: the full day. Padar before sunrise, then the first working block over breakfast in the dining room. The hot hours go to the ranger-led Komodo walk of 45 to 120 minutes and the water at Pink Beach, Taka Makassar or Manta Point; nothing on the agenda competes with them. A second block after dinner, if the team wants one.

Day 3: wrap up. A short closing session while the air is cool, a last swim at Kanawa, and the harbor.

The captain chooses each night's anchorage and the order of the stops on the day, by the weather. The stop list is on the 3 days, 2 nights page.

The bill for 20 and for 27

For 20 guests, 3D2N costs IDR 124,500,000 (≈ USD 7,638), which is IDR 6,220,000 (≈ USD 382) each. For 27 guests the whole boat is IDR 124,500,000 (≈ USD 7,638), or IDR 4,610,000 (≈ USD 283) each. Every figure is all-in and already includes fuel. Park tickets, guide and documentation are separate.

We invoice the company, as PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363. A deposit of 50 percent holds the date, and the balance is due 30 days before sailing. Rates shown are the 2026 rates.

Flying a team of 27 to the harbor

Labuan Bajo is the port. Fly the team in the day before, because a late flight is the one delay the boat can't absorb. Flights come from Bali, Jakarta and Surabaya, and our pickup service runs from the airport, hotel and harbor; a larger vehicle than a car or minibus, such as a coach, is on request.

Book the hotel night before with the Hotels page as a starting list, and the first-time page covers visas and money for guests from abroad. Send us the head count and the names as they appear on passports well before the balance falls due, so the pickup and the park paperwork can be planned.

FAQ

Is Komodo suitable for a corporate retreat?

Yes, for a group that wants a program of places rather than a conference room. Thalassa 2 takes up to 27 guests in 9 cabins as a whole boat, with a dining room, a lounge, a karaoke room and a 32-inch LED TV on the upper deck. There is no meeting room.

Can we hold presentations and workshops onboard?

Yes, in the dining room or on deck, with your own equipment. A 32-inch LED TV is on the upper deck. There is no projector or meeting room, and the Wi-Fi is a crew hotspot that cuts in and out, so build sessions that work offline.

How does a big team get to Labuan Bajo?

Fly to Labuan Bajo from Bali, Jakarta or Surabaya the day before sailing. Our free pickup meets the group at the airport, hotel or harbor, and a coach is available on request. We confirm the pickup time in writing with your booking.

What is the maximum group size for a charter?

Thalassa 2 takes up to 27 guests. A party above 27 needs a second boat, which we quote separately and confirm in writing. Fewer than 12 guests on Thalassa 2 pay the 12 to 16 band, so a smaller team should read the comparison page first.

Can a company get an invoice?

Yes. We invoice the company as PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363. The deposit is 50 percent, the balance is due 30 days before sailing, and the invoice shows the all-in rate, fuel included, and any services quoted.

What if the boat cannot sail?

If a breakdown or an order from the harbor master or the park keeps the boat in port, your team sails on a phinisi of the same class or higher on the same dates at no extra cost, or we refund you in full within 14 days.
