Komodo small boat solo: one seat on an 11-guest open trip

Updated 23 October 2026

A solo traveler can join the Thalassa 1 open trip on a small boat in Komodo: 2D1N from IDR 4,050,000 (≈ USD 248) or 3D2N from IDR 6,650,000 (≈ USD 408) per person, on a boat limited to 11 guests. Thalassa 2 has no seats. Whether a single-guest supplement applies is confirmed in writing before you pay.

One seat among eleven

The open-trip price is quoted per person, and we do not publish a rule for what a person traveling alone pays. Whether a single-guest supplement applies to the cabin you choose is confirmed in writing before you pay. That is the limit of this page, and it is better said first.

What is fixed is the boat. Thalassa 1 has 5 cabins and carries up to 11 guests, so a solo seat means about ten other people, not forty. Two cabins have a private balcony; on an open trip the balcony Master cabin is on request. The other cabins are air-conditioned with a private bathroom and hot water.

Thalassa 2 never sells a single seat. It is a whole-boat charter for 12 to 27 guests, so a solo traveler looks at Thalassa 1.

Who you sail with

An open trip on Thalassa 1 puts a few parties on one boat: couples, small families, friends. It is led by the cruise leader and a crew. Nothing on this site describes the other guests, because nobody knows who they are until the seats are filled, and we do not invent a demographic.

What you share is the sundeck, the dining room and the evening. Cabins are private to their occupants, and the trip is small enough that dinner is one conversation or three, as you like. Some solo travelers join in; some read on the sundeck. Both are normal on a boat this size.

Safety and the day's decisions rest with the captain, who chooses the stops by the weather and the sea. The boat lists GPS tracking, VHF and SSB radio, a satellite phone, 2 inflatable life rafts and a life jacket for every guest.

Dates

Open trips run on scheduled one-off dates. The next is Thursday, 12 November 2026, and 4 remain this year: 12 to 14 November (3D2N), 19 to 20 November (2D1N), 11 to 13 December (3D2N) and 18 to 19 December (2D1N). Thalassa 2 has no open trip.

A seat is held once the deposit of 50 percent is paid, and the balance is due 30 days before sailing. Land in Labuan Bajo the day before, and our free pickup meets you at the airport, hotel or harbor. The calendar below lists every date.

Departure calendar

Three days from a single seat

Day 1, among strangers. The seat leaves Labuan Bajo with up to 10 other guests. Kelor's short hill and the first snorkel at Manjarite break the ice faster than introductions, and by Kalong at dusk the deck has names.

Day 2, the long one. Padar before sunrise, 25 to 45 minutes up, then Komodo with a ranger, Pink Beach, and Taka Makassar or Manta Point as the tide allows. The canoe and the 2 SUP boards are free to take out alone. Dinner is served together on deck, and on a boat of 11 a solo guest is rarely alone at it.

Day 3, the way back. Kanawa for a last swim, then the harbor.

A seat starts at IDR 6,650,000 (≈ USD 408) per person for 3D2N. The stop list is on the 3 days, 2 nights page, and the captain sets the order by wind and tide.

One soft bag, one life jacket

Pack a soft bag, because the cabins are compact. Closed shoes with grip for Padar and Kelor, a head torch, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, personal medicines, and cash for tips and small purchases. Fins if you want your own; snorkeling gear is free.

A life jacket is on board for every guest. Komodo National Park tickets and ranger fees are never part of the fare. KEXI's park package covers the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024), the ranger and the local levies, paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included. Local Wi-Fi on board is a hotspot from the crew's mobile signal. It cuts in and out, there is no satellite internet, and you should not plan on video calls.

Or book the whole boat

If you want the cabin you choose, the whole boat is the other way. For one to five guests, 3D2N is IDR 50,500,000 (≈ USD 3,098) and 2D1N is IDR 41,500,000 (≈ USD 2,546), fuel included, and the 1 to 5 guest band covers up to five. A solo traveler who brings a friend or two shares that figure. The Charter page has every band and the Cabins page shows where the balcony sits.

FAQ

Is there a single supplement?

A single-guest supplement is not published. Whether one applies to your cabin on the open trip is confirmed in writing before you pay. Seats start at IDR 4,050,000 (≈ USD 248) per person for 2D1N and IDR 6,650,000 (≈ USD 408) for 3D2N.

Is it safe for solo female travelers?

The boat is small, the cabins are private, and the captain and crew run the days. Thalassa 1 carries up to 11 guests and lists GPS tracking, radios, a satellite phone and life rafts. Tell us about any concern in your first message and we answer it in writing.

Will I share a cabin?

Not unless you choose to. A seat is a cabin occupancy priced per person, and the cabin type and any supplement are confirmed in writing before you pay. The Share cabin takes 3 guests, so ask us how a seat in it works.

How many guests are on board?

Up to 11 on Thalassa 1, across 5 cabins, so about ten other guests on a full trip. Thalassa 2 holds 27 but has no open trip and never sells a single seat. The next Thalassa 1 date is Thursday, 12 November 2026.
