Thalassa 1's two balcony Master cabins: what to know before you book
Updated 23 October 2026
Thalassa 1 has two Master Cabin Sea View cabins on the upper deck, each for 2 guests, with air conditioning, a bathroom and a private balcony. I wrote this before my first trip on Thalassa 1, from the deck plan and the cabin photos, so it is a pre-boarding note.

A note written before boarding
My name is Jewel. I guide guests and survey vessels for PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia. I wrote it before my first trip on Thalassa 1, from the deck plan and the cabin photos, so please read it as a pre-boarding note.
That means this page covers what is listed and what the photos show, not the smell of the wood or the sound of the door. Every line below is either confirmed, visible in a photo or still open, and we confirm the open items in writing before anyone pays.
After my first trip I'll replace it with what I find on board. Until then, take it as an honest checklist rather than a verdict.
What each Master cabin comes with
Thalassa 1 has 5 cabins and takes up to 11 guests. Two of them are Master Cabin Sea View, each listed for 2 guests with air conditioning, a bathroom, a private balcony, mineral water, a blanket, toiletries and a life jacket. They are the two double-bed rooms on the upper deck.
Across the boat, the beds have King Koil mattresses and the bathrooms have a basin and hot water from a water heater. The other three cabins, two private and one share, sit on the lower deck with no balcony.
And that's the whole list. Two cabins, two guests in each, one balcony each.
Reading the deck plan
On the deck plan, the upper-deck pair is named Seahorse and Shark, each with a private balcony marked. On the lower deck are Octopus and Turtle, and the share cabin is Diver.
The plan gives the cabin names and the cabin list gives the cabin types, and I match them myself: Seahorse and Shark are on the upper deck with the balcony, so I read them as the Master Cabin Sea View pair. That is my reading of the plan, not a confirmed fact, and we confirm the cabin names in writing with your quote.
The balcony itself is the other thing to ask about. It is listed as private; its size, whether there is a table and what the floor is made of are details we will confirm. Among the boat's facilities there is also a balcony with a 32-inch LED TV on the upper deck, and nothing says whether that's the Master balcony or a shared one. I wouldn't promise you a private TV.
What the photos show, and what they leave out
Two photos show the Master Cabin, and both are of the same room. There's a wide double bed with a white cover and two rolled towels on blue blankets, red seahorse cushions, and a framed blue seahorse picture on the wood paneling. Over the bed hangs a reading lamp, with a ceiling spotlight above and a paneled door on the right. In one shot the blind is down and the glass is dark. In the other, the window shows open sea and a clear sky.
For a couple, that second frame is the one that counts. As far as I can judge from the picture, the window looks out on the horizon.
The balcony is not in either photo, so it is the first thing I'll look at on board, and we will publish its photos after that visit. The paneled door on the right is not labelled, and the bathroom is outside both frames. I have left out an older photo that shows two beds, because it does not match either cabin.
What the balcony is for, and what I'll check first
For two people, a private balcony earns its place in simple ways. Coffee at first light, before the rest of the boat is awake, with the anchor down and the water flat. A quiet hour after dinner, away from the sundeck. Both need somewhere to sit, so the first thing I'll check on board is whether a chair or a bench fits.
My list for the visit, in order: the balcony's size and seating; the door and its latch; the bathroom and the hot water; shade at midday. Last, which of the two cabins is quieter relative to the engine and the generators.
One concession, said plainly. On Thalassa 1 only 2 of the 5 cabins have a balcony. On an open trip, booking for two doesn't guarantee you one, and the open-trip price for a Master Cabin is on request.
Booking it: private charter or open trip
On a private charter, you choose the cabin. A couple who want the whole boat pay the whole-boat rate, which for 1 to 5 guests is IDR 41,500,000 (≈ USD 2,546) for 2 days and 1 night, or IDR 50,500,000 (≈ USD 3,098) for 3 days and 2 nights. A fuel surcharge is added per trip; it depends on the boat and the trip length and is confirmed in writing before you pay. Park fees sit outside the fare.
On an open trip you book a seat, from IDR 6,650,000 (≈ USD 408) per person on the 3-day route; the balcony cabin is on request and not guaranteed. The next scheduled date is Thursday, 12 November 2026. If the balcony matters to you, say so in your first message, and we'll confirm in writing which cabin is held.
The private rate carries a 10 percent addition on 23 to 27 December 2026 and on 30 December 2026 to 2 January 2027.

FAQ
Do both Master Cabin Sea View cabins on Thalassa 1 have a private balcony?
Yes. A private balcony is listed for the Master Cabin Sea View, and the deck plan shows the two double-bed rooms on the upper deck with a private balcony. These are the only 2 of the 5 cabins that have one.
Can I see the balcony in photos?
Not yet. Our photos show the cabin interior with a window onto the sea; the balcony photos will come after a visit.
Is the balcony cabin guaranteed on an open trip?
No. A balcony cabin isn't guaranteed on an open trip, and its price is on request. On a private charter you choose the cabin.
Was this note written on board?
No. I wrote it before my first trip on Thalassa 1, from the deck plan and the cabin photos, and a note from on board will replace it after that trip.
